Day +20

We’re struggling this week with more problems. Chloe’s liver is increasing in size and she is retaining a lot of fluids. Her belly is so swollen that her belly button has popped out and is starting to discolor. Thus, she is having continued difficulty breathing, gets lots of hiccups, and is not very interested in eating. She also doesn’t like to be moved or sit up in any way as it crushes her stomach. The docs here are still in wait and see mode but Dennis and I are running out of patience with that.

On the good side, they have begun to transition her to oral/g-tube medications rather than IV meds so that she can go home. She was taken off isolation over the weekend and has had several trips out of the room wearing a tiny mask. She doesn’t like the mask and often tries to get it in her mouth. Once we get moving, though, she forgets about it and is more interested in "go-go".
